The Ravenscroft School football team moms have historically set an example for team moms of other teams in the school.

Now, they are setting an example for other football team moms across the state.

The Ravenscroft team moms recently won the 2015 Friday Night Football Magazine Team Moms Contest, sponsored by Samsung. FNF Magazine set out to determine the school that boasted the best collection of football moms through an online vote that ran from July 1 to October 22. Ravenscroft received a total of 530 votes – more than any other school in North Carolina. As a reward, FNF Magazine and Samsung will make a $1,000 donation to the booster program. The Ravenscroft team moms will also be featured with a story and photo in the 2016 edition of FNF Carolinas Magazine.

“Football is our team within the school that other team parents try to emulate because we do so much for the team,” said Ravenscroft team mom Wendy Bird. “Our team moms set a precedent a long time ago, and I’ve tried to follow it with all three of my kids.”

The Ravenscroft team moms implemented various team-building activities during football season, including biscuit breakfasts on game days, pregame dinners and postgame snacks and drinks. The team moms also work closely with the Ragin’ Ravens Spirit Club and the school cheerleaders.

“It’s a great triangle because we’re constantly improving upon something,” Bird said. “It’s really nice to see the things we’ve implemented get recognized.”

Bird and the fellow Ravenscroft team moms will be recognized with a formal check presentation Nov. 13 during halftime of Ravenscroft’s opening-round playoff game at home. The game will start at 7:30 p.m.
